On 6 May 2015, the United Arab Emirates and the member states of the Schengen zone signed the visa waiver agreement allowing UAE nationals to travel without a visa requirement to any member state of the Schengen zone for up to 90 uninterrupted days within a 180 day period. The agreement will be provisionally enforced upon signing.
Article 8 of the Agreement provides for its reciprocal provisional application from the date of signature thereof. However, the Agreement could not be applied before it came to existence by actually being signed. This means in practice that the Agreement applies from the said time of signature - on a provisional basis until the date of its conclusion.
