Due to a restructuring of their consular services, the administrative and consular districts of the German Foreign Missions in the United Arab Emirates will change from 1st September 2017. This means that the consular jurisdiction of the Consulate General in Dubai will be extended to the whole territory of the UAE, including the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. Although the decision taking on all visa applications will be concentrated at the Consulate General in Dubai taking effect on 1st September 2017, Schengen visa applications filed by residents of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi can still be submitted at the external visa service provider in Abu Dhabi. However, all applicants wishing to apply for a national (long term stay) visa for Germany will need to attend in person with all the required documents at the German Consulate General in Dubai after making the appointment with the external visa service provider.
Also taking effect on 1st September, only the German Consulate General in Dubai will accept passport applications and offer consular services (such as family law affairs, e.g. Name Change Declaration, Acknowledgment of Paternity, Registry of birth, marriage, etc., Pensions, Citizenship, Police Clearance Certificate, Life Certificate, (German) Driver's Licence Certificate, Certificate of Inheritance) as well as notarial and documentary services (such as Legalisation, Notarization of Power of Attorney). Please be aware that the Consulate General in Dubai generally requires to make an appointment prior to your visit.
